Starting off Strong

mreshleman

MavTv Race #1 (Madera Speedway)

Its the first race back for Eshleman Racing and all that hard work in the off season seemed to pay off. Buddy Shepherd did not miss a beat behind the wheel and there was a packed field of hungry drivers knocking on his bumper.

Buddy qualified and started p.2, he spent 25 laps stoking the #35 of (Jeff Bishfburger) before making his move and passing him for the lead. From there it was navigating through lap traffic until the half way break. and this is where things got interesting and we spoke with Crew Chief Matthew Eshleman after the race to ask him what happened.

"I made a mistake during the break that almost cost us the race. We had a good car and seemed to be pulling away from the pack. But, It is in my nature to always try to make things better and that's what I tried to do. Unfortunately I made it worse. I am happy that happened to us, it was a tough learning opportunity but at some point it had to happen to get better, so I am pleased it happened early in the season rather than later."

This insight tells a lot about this young team who is still getting use to one another and their team dynamic. Their early success shows a lot of promise but it will be most interesting to see if they can continue to follow it up.
